Quick HTPC question - Is output from laptop, 1080p w/ 5.1?

This should be quick. I'm running a HP Dv7, which has a blu-ray player on board. If I pop in a blu-ray and output to my receiver, Marantz SR5004, via HDMI (using the "projector" function, please tell me if there is a better way), will it project as 1080p w/ 5.1 surround? Making the purpose of owning a blu-ray player essentially useless?

I'm assuming, then, that a blu-ray rip will also output at 1080p/5.1?

It can output that if set properly. Double check the resolution and audio configurations. The best way to tell if it is correct is simply to look at what signal your tv/receiver think they are getting.
