Quick hookup question?!

Hello all, I just hooked up a pair of Infinity RS5 floor speakers with a Kenwood KR-A5030 receiver... I hear sound, but its pretty muddy and not clear as they should be!
Sounds "cloudy" as if the treble barely existed.
Im sitting here listening as we speak.

Could you be a little more vague?

It's only two cables, two connections on each end for a total of 8 connections. There's not a heluva lot to screw up here.

Does it do it on all sources? If only a few, it's the source.

If on all, it's either the speakers or the receiver.

If you never heard these speakers or receiver before and they are used, option 2 is a good possibility

Yes I have several speakers in my home I tested on, I actually just switched souces to CD; Im thinking that was the problem! I had the cables hooked into PHONO.... Wow

Yes, the phono circuit adjusts for the RIAA equalization curve incorporated into vinyl records.
