Quick budget sub question! Need help fast!!!!!

Quick budget sub question. Is the Advent AHT850 a decent sub for the money. There is an auction on eBay selling the sub for $19.95 plus shipping. I currently have a set of Fluance AV-HTB's and I would like to get a sub. My room is 17' X 14' so I really probably do not need a huge sub. I am really tempted to get two of the Advent's since they are so cheap. They are spec'd to go down to 30Hz which I think is very good for the price. What do you guys think?

If you are interested in the Advent sub, you might take a look at their 12" model at Amazon. $79 with free shipping. I bought one just out of curiosity, and ended up using it in a room about the same size as yours with good results 'til I moved. (It'll never replace my Pinnacle subwoofer in my primary home theater system, but it's a good performer for the price). With shipping added, the 8" may cost you close to the same price.

The shipping on the 8" Advent is right around $18, so $40 for the 8" or $80 for the 12" I am not sure which one is better. It seems that the 12" sub is only rated to go to 33Hz, while the 8" is rated to go down to 30Hz. Just some more info for anyone who wants to chime in.

This 8" sub is $315, and goes down to 32Hz at -2dB. It's probably the best single 8" sub on the market. Spend the extra, and go with the 12" Advent.

And in room, you can get usable output down to around 25Hz with an STF-1. It's a great little sub.

I think there may be a misunderstanding... I am referring to the 8" Advent sub (AHT850) not the HSU sub. There is 24 Advent subs on sale on eBay for $19.95 each.

Jaxvon did misunderstand. Buckeyefan did not.

He was making the point that the STF-1 is the best 8" sub on the market. There for there is no way the 8" you are looking at will make it down to the 30Hz the spec.

Buck was recommending going for the 12" Advent instead of the 8". There will be a noticeable difference. And I agree wit him.

Hey Kyle, I would have to second or third that 12" Advent. Its a great price.
