Well as some of you know I just purchased this Furman 20PFi power conditioner and im super happy with its performance but my first question is whats the trigger outlets do, wright now I've just got the trigger bypass button pushed in so im not using it. I looked in the owners manual and it just says several of the outlets are trigger outlets:confused: What do they do and should I use them. So far I've got everything plugged in to every outlet they suggested for AVR/AMP. Sub , Tv, bluray and so on. BTW i've noticed a increase power in my amp that feels like double:confused: Strange but good I actually had to adjust all my speaker levels again with my mic on my Elite. The colors on my tv seem more vibrant or more true looking so im really liking this power conditioner . But my other question is unfortunately My sub POWER cord doesnt reach or my TV POWER cord doesn't reach either. So temporarily I had to run a seperate extension cord for each one so it would reach my power condition and there a thinner gauge extension cord with only two prongs not three but you know it has the fat blade and thinner one. I've checked and the ext. cords arent getting warm on hot on either one but it does bother me to having to use these cheesy ext cords on my sub and TV . I really cant move things around to much to make them reach, at best even after changing everything around one cord will still be to short . I was thinking about just running the beefed up power strip that I was running for everything before the Furman and just use that for my SUB and connect it to my Furman . Would that work ok ? What do guys suggest or should I be ok the way it is running the ext cords. Thanks in advance for your help :) Heres a pic of the right side of ht setup and the left side so you guys can see my situation, also by lowering furman thats at the top of my audio rack the cords still wont reach without ext cords for tv and sub, note furman is second from the top

Also I did consider moving the sub next to the tv on the right and putting the speaker were the sub was and then for the left side swapping the audio rack with speaker also moving component rack closer. That would make my sub cord reach but the cord would be off the ground putting stress on the plug I imagine from going on a angle all the way to the Furman and my tv plug still wouldnt reach. Plus Im really happy with the way MY HT layout sounds now and im leary of moving the sub so close to the TV . SO ??? HELP !!! LOL :)

Hey, man. I'll look into the trigger thing on your new toy - I think I know what it's doing, but I want to make sure.

As for the cords reaching, I have two suggestions:
1. Consider moving the Furman to a lower rack to help the sub cord reach and maybe the TV cord, too.
2. Buy longer power cords. My Ultra uses an 18-gauge cord, but you can easily check yours. You can get them from Amazon (two-day free shipping, babeee), and Monoprice has them, too (here's a 15-foot 18-gauge cable for about $3 before shipping).

I don't recommend using the ungrounded extension cords for components that come with grounded cables.

Thanks Bro :) I just checked my cord on my nsd and its a 18 gauge also but not seeing them at Amazon I found a 8 ft and 50ft 18 gauge, but the Mono one looks pretty good.

The ultra uses an 18ga chord...? You sure about that, that seems awfully small for a sub.... I wouldn't run speaker wire that small - ever

Hey, I don't have one of those bad a** DIY jobs...just an Ultra. :D

The cable says "2X18AWG" on it, and it appears (from about a foot away, as it's behind my Ultra) to be the same thickness as my 18AWG PC power cord. I assumed it was 18AWG from that.

Ok downloading some pics and doing the mic setup on my Elite as we speak. I got all the cords to reach with no problem and I even think it sounds better with fronts spread out. I just have to get use to the way it looks ....pics to follow . Thanks Adam for your help "again" Oh and our cords on our SVS subs are 10 gauge ;)

Why do you say that they are 10 gauge? What does yours say on it?

Thanks!

Look on the back of your receiver and you'll see at least one 12V trigger out jack (3.5mm). You can usually assign the trigger to a specific input, which makes it useful for causing a projection screen to drop (when the 12V is present) or retract (when the 12V stops). On the Furman, you can use the 12V triggered outlets for a separate power amp when the power conditioner and amps are hidden, like I did, and then use a specific command to turn the amp(s) on and off. I used Zone 2 CD, DVD and VCR commands to turn one amp on, both amps and all off, respectively. You don't have to use it but having it built in keeps you from looking around for a triggered outlet separately.
