I'm curious, I got really lucky and managed to only pay $350 for my Pioneer Elite DV-F07 player a month or so back and I've been pretty happy with it. I've only been unhappy with a few of the things on it considering it retail pricing.
For a newer player, I am really surprised it doesn't support HDMI output and the on-screen interface is heavily lacking in my opinion. However, I noticed one inconsistency as shown on Pioneer's specification sheet as shown on the website (
Link ). IF you scroll down, it says that under the audio terminals section that the DV-F07 does not have an Optical output, yet when I look at the back of mine it most certianly does. Not to mention the user manual describes using it.
I suppose my question is will I notice a performance increase in switching to the optical cable, which will go into my Pioneer Elite VSX-94TXH? The reciever specs say that the DAC is capable of 192 kHz / 24-Bit, will this only work if I'm using optical, or does this do its job while utilizing analog outputs form the DV-F07?
It also allows for coaxial, again same sort of question applies, what kind of difference does this format make over the other options? I mean at the end of the day, the reciever still outputs via analog connections to the speakers so isn't a lot of these other connections types kind of moot in a performance standpoint?
Any information or ideas will be greatly appreciated.
