Hi all, new poster.
i am the extreme sound noobie.

i just got myself a condo, about 830 sq feet.
Anyhow, i have an ok 52 inch sharpe aquos lcd (3 or 4 years old) and I wanted surround sound for it...

i may buy a Denon AVR 788 i found on Kijiji for a decent price. heres my questions

Is it over kill? do I not need this?
I want surround sound, so the first two speakers to the lefr/right of my tv stand will be fine in terms of wires, however...the tv/sofa are infront of each other and I will not be able to run a wire for speakers to go behind the sofa---
so, would wireless speakers be good? do they work witht he denon?

What suggestions could you guys give me?

anything---anything would be helpfull as I know nothing lol

I can't help with wireless but usually with a 5.1 system your surrounds will go to the left and right of your sofa. That should make it easier to run wires. Anyway I have no idea what your budget is but assuming that after moving money will be tight then if I were you I'd start with the two best left and right front speakers that I could afford along with a small subwoofer and then save for a matched center. Only after I had those pieces would I worry about the surrounds.

While you're receiver shopping, assuming you're in the US, I'd also consider a refurbished Onkyo TX-SR607 from from Accessories For Less.

Oh and welcome. ;)
