Question on older HDMI cables?

I was wondering if the older HDMI cables can pass all the new video for blu-ray? I have probley the first RCA HDMI cable hooked up from my reciver to my tv and was just thinking if i would get a better picture if i upgrded my cable. Any info would be great thank you.

HDMI is HDMI. All cables should be compatible with all version AFAIK. From one cable to another I don't think you will get a dramatic difference between a cheap one and an expensive one. If length were a factor, like 50ft, then a better cable might make a difference.

I think the difference is in the wire gauge used to make it. For shorter runs 28ga, i believe, wire should be the minimum you use. As long as you have a that, it shouldn't matter what HDMI version the cable is.
