Graphic equalizer option? Did you try running Audyssey first? It's either or....

It's simply an on-board graphic eq where you can somewhat adjust levels of those particular frequencies (and affect those in the immediate vicinity as well). That alone won't help you setup levels/delays (distances) for your various speakers, for a beginner I'd just say run Audyssey for now for initial setup. Try that for a while. Then maybe turn Audyssey off and experiment with various use of the frequency adjustments in graphic eq; not sure if that model of Denon offers a transfer of basic eq over to graphic eq as a start.

Have you spent much time with the manual yet?

Reading what online? If you understand it just what are you asking particularly? How to move the sliders to what you might prefer or not? That's hard to know....

What Audyssey does is set levels and delays as well as provide some eq for your speakers. You have the most basic version, simply MultEQ. It does enable DynamicEQ, a volume-variable loudness contour that can be nice to use.

In a Denon you can use Audyssey or you can use graphic eq, but only one at a time, not together. After running Audyssey some Denons do offer a transfer of a basic eq profile to the graphic eq as a starting point....look in the manual. Some Denon avrs can use an external app for further adjustments of eq/bands affected too but according to this your avr isn't eligible, altho I thought it would be https://www.denon.com/en-us/stories/tech/audyssey

You CAN adjust the bands manually, but Audessey will generally do a very good job on its own. Unless you are going to to utilize a meter manually and use REW, I would start with what Audessey does and see how it sounds. MultiEQ allows you to take multiple readings for the calibration and I was actually very pleased with what it did for my system.
