Question on DVD/CD/VHS

Here's my problem; I have many LPs that I would like to commit to CD to extend their lives. In addition I would like to record movies off the satellite onto DVDs. Lastly, I have a HUGE collection of VHS tapes that I would like to commit to DVDs as well-to extend their lives and enjoy the ease of the DVD format. Is there a *machine* that would do all this? Is there one that would do everything BUT the LPs, which I heard can be done through a PC?

A used PC (Mac or Windows) with some cheap software? (NERO maybe). Set you back maybe $250 if you buy used.

That takes care of the LPS to CD (I have Nero), but not the satellite movies to DVDs or copying the VHS movies to DVD?

If you are talking about VHS that you've recorded, there are DVD-R/VHS and DVR/DVD-R combo players that can do that. If you're talking about copy protected, store bought movies on VHS, that is illegal.

Yes, I know it's illegal to copy copy-protected movies and I'm not advocating that-talking about my own copies from VHS. I've seen the combo players, they look like cheap junk. I suppose there are higher-end products than what I've seen so far. I was also told there are machines now that copy movies from a source like satellite to DVD and can make DVD copies from a good VHS machine?

That would most likely be a DVR with DVD-R - Digital Video Recorder with a DVD writer built in, which dubs to an internal HD then you can burn to DVD. Something like this.
