Hey Folks-

I'm a relative A/V neophyte - can anyone tell me if I can buy any gear to allow me to play high definition (1080p) dvd's through my Yamy RX-V2500 - using a high-def DVD player of course - or will I need to upgrade to a A/V receiver with HDMI compatability. My receiver isn't very old so I'm trying to avoid that option if possible.

Thanks!

Well, I don't see an HDMI connection checking at Yamaha but, this does have 8 ch analog audio inputs. So, what you can do is pass the video direct to the TV and let the Hi-def DVD player decode the hi-def audio and have it pass it through the analog outputs. In this case though you would have to set your audio system up in the DVD player as well for level balances, speaker distances, etc.
