SACD/DVD-A is analog only (for now). Denon will soon make a digital "denon-link" connection for this but I don't think any of the current hardware supports it.

I am still confused, according to my understanding hdmi 1.1 should pass through dvd audio, if not sacd yet?

According to Denon's website, the 4806 (and 3805) are SACD ready through their 3rd generation Denon link. Denon link has been able to carry DVD-A for a while.

See the comparison chart here:

http://www.usa.denon.com/catalog/pdfs/4806 AVR Chart.pdf (2nd page just above IEEE 1394 heading)

It also says these 2 receivers can handle DSD through the IEEE 1394 connection. DSD = SACD

HDMI should be usable for DVD-Audio. Read your user manual or contact the manufacturer directly to verify this for your particular product.

HDMI hasn't been approved yet by the SACD camp to pass their signal, at least according to info at HDMI.org. The HDMI standard could handle it no problem, but red tape is likely holding up the process.

So what you saying that DENON LINK, I LINK can handle both, but HDMI will carry VIDEO only?

According To The Owners Manual On The 4806 It Will Do Dvd-a Through Hdmi But It Wont Do Sacd. That Is Assuming Your Player Put Audio Out Through Hdmi Something To Look For Because Not All Players Do. I Have The 4806 And The Dvd 2910 But Dont Have Hdmi Cable So I Havent Tried It This Going Strictly By What The Owners Manual Says.
