I recently bought a house that has the TV nook above the fireplace. I currently have a 55 WS MITS HDTV. It is only 2 years old but won't fit above the fireplace plus the viewing angle would prohibit any watching of the TV since it is a rear projection.
Here is the question: What technology will give me the best viewing angle if the TV is placed in the nook above the fireplace. I have looked at DLP and Projection LCD. The Samsung HLP series and the Sony grand wega to be specific. I think I can fit a 42-50 inch set up there but I don't want to lose much by not having the set at eye level. What are y'alls thoughts and or suggestions. Thanks in advance!

Have you considered DLP front projection? you can now get an entire system that will outperform a single box solution for the same price and
will give you a cinema expereance instead of just ordinary Home Theater

Any of the DLP/LCD rear projection sets are going to wash out viewed off angle like your setup. If you can't use a front projection setup, then plasma is going to be your best alternative.
