Hi all,

The receiver is Yamaha RX-V3800. The question is, Im using an EQ-70 connect to the Receiver for Music purposes, but at the same time, the Receiver is YPAO activated. Meaning the Receiver has the Parametric EQ from YPAO. So now, the receiver is also use for Home Theater. Is there a memory system that I can switch the Receiver to activated YPAO for home theater, and TURN OFF YPAO for Music using an EQ. I noticed it doesn't sound good when using both EQ-70 and Parametric EQ from YPAO. When I disable the YPAO(all speakers to FLAT) and just use the EQ-70. It sounds really good. Should I not use the YPAO at all? Thanks guys...

Hi. Yes, the 3800 does have different memory settings, and one of the things that you can adjust within those settings are the YPAO EQ settings.

The explanation of the memory settings begins on page 100 of the owner's manual for the 3800.

Wow man, you are super quick. Is there a way I can just turn the YPAO ON and OFF? Or it has to be Disable/Set Speakers back to FLAT and then reload YPAO from Memory?

Sorry for the delay, but I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I'd say try the "Pure Direct" and the "Straight" modes to see if either of those shuts off the YPAO EQ. On my Pioneer, "Pure Direct" shuts of any EQ, but I don't see that specifically mentioned in the 3800 owner's manual.

Well, if that's the case, then that's the easy approach. When you want to disable YPAO, just hit that button on the remote or front panel.
I will check my manual and see if Pure Direct shut off YPAO/Parametric EQ. Thanks Adam.

Happy to help (or, at least, try). BTW, you'll know if it's doing something to the YPAO (turning it off or modifying it) if the "YPAO" indicator on the front display shuts off.

I think if put in Pure Direct, the subwoofer will NOT work. Just 2.0, not 2.1. I will have to look into this. Thanks.
