Question about the Onkyo Tx-SR505 and over-heating

I recently bought an Onkyo tx sr505 to power a two speaker setup (RTI A3's), and my 360/hdtv/set top box.

The tv stand I have is quite small. My receiver can't fit inside of it unless I pop off the feet. If I do that, then it has about a half inch of clearance at the top, and the bottom is flat on a wood surface.

My question to some of you more experienced guys out there is, will this cause it to over-heat? Do the Onkyo's often get extremely warm, or will I be fine?

Taking the feet off is a bad idea in the first place as receivers need airflow from underneath.
Secondly, if your space is that tight then you may very well run into over heating problems, with or with out the feet, even with an fan.
If possible, rethink your layout.

You're going to have to get a different stand or find an alternate location for the receiver, unfortunately. Heat is the #1 enemy of electronics, and running the receiver with such inadequate ventilation will bake it to death in short order. You're also rendering your warranty null and void. That 505 is a nice receiver, it deserves a spot where the poor thing won't bake to death. :)

I would not install the receiver in that spot, either. As mentioned, heat is hard on electronics. Add to that all the reports that the Onkyos run hot anyway and you are asking for a quick demise of your new receiver.
