I use a Belkin UPS. I've used Monster powercenters before, and can't say I think it was worth the cost. Although, they're very attractive too look at.

After purchasing a $4000.00+ plasma TV a couple of people recommended using a power surge protector to prevent damage to the system. So, I ended up with the Monster Power Bar 1100.

Satisfied with it? Yes. Expensive? I think so, $200.00, but Monster typically generates higher profit margins for their dealers (discussed here on these Forums several times in the past).

It is however a good organizer for all of your gear; I have eight pieces of equipment routed through the bar (everything except the sub) and there is also an input for cable/satellite. Among other light indicators displayed, there is a group that shows amps. So if you are potentially overloading your electrical system, you have the visuals as a warning.

There are claims of a 'better picture' and 'sound' that are derived from using the power bar and I suppose that it is true. There is though (I think), an element of snake oil from most cable manufacturers in their claims...

In any case, no mattter what guarantees are made for protection, I still remove the plug from the outlet during an electrical storm (which seem to be getting more frequent and more powerful in the U.S. these days!).

Shop around though, you may find a bar with similar features at a lower price.

I bought mine (new) for $135 shipped on ebay. I think it looks great, organizes the cords well, has all the features and capabilities you'd want and the volt/amp displays are a neat addition.

This is not a line conditioner or UPS so there is a limit to its ability. But with that in mind, I'd highly recommend it.
