Ok well Im gonna get my new Samsung DLP thursday and I was wondering how I should place my center channel. I got a Omni mount CCH1 stand but I dont really like it and was wondering what other options I have. Also what are some nice stands for this bad boy (56" BTW) and places to find said stands.

Thanks,
Sean

I have always had a wall unit type entertainment center and placed the center speaker above the TV but now I have a simple flat TV/AV stand. My solution is to mount a shelf on the wall above the TV. You could build a shelf, use a TV wall mount, or on-wall speaker mounting bracket. I've even seen people use a tall speaker stand placed behind the TV.

Note that theory says the center is better placed above the tv than below because humans are better at localizing sounds below the ear than above. That means that if the center is below the TV in some instances you can detect that the sound is coming from the shelf below the TV as opposed to sounding like it comes directly from the mouths of the actors on the screen.

In practice, I don't think it matters much either way as I have had it both above and below and it sounds good to me either way.

Those are very good ideas. I should point out a few things though. I dont have a stand for the TV yet even (I have something stable that I threw together with stuff Id rather not name on an audio site) so on top of the TV is the only option. Also currently im stuck in an unfinished basement so nothing can go on the wall. So far from what me and the girlfriend have concluded, we like the look of a simple stand the best (nothing enclosing the TV) so basicly were gonna have the same problem when we move out. I DID however just to a "test run" with the Omni Mount and as long as I can have it without the stupid lil feet in the front and be comfortable with it, I actually dont mind how it looks. I would like to hear some other ideas if you have them though.

Thanks again,
Sean
