question about partsexpress plate amp

I just got my 1000W plate sub amp from parts express and my yamaha 1500 doesnt seem to want to turn the amp on and off when the switch is on 'auto'. The amp just stays on and I have to shut it off with the switch. Any ideas? Also when I shut the amp off (after receiver is shut off), the subs make a sound for a second, not real loud but loud enough. ANy ideas on this? Thanks!

The "AUTO" isn't a voltage trigger- it senses when it's getting a musical signal. Within a few thousands of a second after the signal reaches the amp, it's fired up. And it will stay on for a predetermined length of time after the signal (usually between 7-12 minutes). This is to prevent it from turning off during quiet passages.

Give it 20-30 minutes to see if it eventually shuts itself off. Alternatively, you could call PE and ask them how long the timer is set at.
