Question about HDMI

I just ordered some HDMI from Blue Jeans. I'm amazed how much cheaper they are compared to Monster. I don't think Monster HDMI is bad just waaaaay overpriced (I bought most of other type of wires from them before and I had no problems quality wise). I have one question though which is not quite clear to me after reading some of the articles here, is it the speed of data transmission important????. You know when I was buying my first HDTV I knew I had to purchase some HDMI, and one store I went to tried to sell me some Monster cable and showed me one that read something like "10.4 Gbps" or something like that for 170 dollars the 8ft:eek:, the guy said that it was some important detail to consider. I just walked away from that because I knew I had to inform myself first how important that really is when buying HDMI cables. I've read excellent things about Bluejeans in this website, so I made the purchase, and even though their website mentions that the cables are Cat2 1.3 compliant, it doesn't say anything about the speed. I don't need longer cable runs, 8ft maximum. Your help is appreciated.

NO!

Just buy from blue jeans (as you've done) and don't worry about it!

I've read a few articles and basically all of them said the same thing. For the typical run, under 10ft, you don't need anything special. When you get into 50ft runs, it MIGHT matter. I read a video game magazine that compared cables on the PS3 and could detect no difference between the least expensive cables and the most expensive at 6ft lengths.

I have a number of HDMI and DVI cables from Bluejeans and I am very pleased with them. You made the right choice :D

Actually, that IS the speed. 1.3 Category 2 means the cable's been tested and found compliant at 10.2 Gbps, which is the highest speed for which testing standards exist. Anybody who advertises a higher speed than that is making up his own criteria, which could be anything (or, in some cases, probably nothing)...

Thanks for the business!

Thanks Kurt for taking the time to answer my question. You don't get to see the president of a company doing that everyday. The cables arrived on time, and even though I haven't had the chance to use them yet (waiting on my new HDTV), I'm pretty sure I won't be disappointed.

Kurt is a stand up guy and that's why I'm glad to send money his way.
