Question about Dipole vs Bipole mode, in a certain setup.

I have Dipole/Bipole surrounds (Aperion Audio 522-SS) And I can't mount them to the side of my listening position, but I can mount them directly behind and two or three feet above my listening position. In this arrangement, and with a medium size room, would they operate better in Dipole or Bipole mode.

Any expert opinions would be very appreciated.

Best bet would be to try them in each mode and make a value judgment on which sounds better. I know this may not really address you answer definitively, but that is really the only way to be sure.

Cheers…

Dapper Dan is right. try them both ways to see if you like one way or the other. I would say BiPole so the sound field is spread out. Makes the speaker kind of disappear from it's position on the wall and spreads the sound out behind you.

Sheepster, I know it's early in the morning, but look at his first post. He HAS DiPole/BiPole speakers. WAKE-UPPPPPPPPP :D :D :D
hehe, you got me. Maybe I should read more then just the title. And yes, it is early, 5:26 to be exact.

Still, he could sell his surrounds and get some of those.....

according to Wharfedale's web site...

their surrounds are bi-pole, and they indicate that bi-poles are better suited for the rear surrounds while Di-poles seem to be better for side surrounds. This is just one manufacturers positioning of their own product, and not a definitive answer.

As always, the best solution is try both and judege for yourself and remember YMMV.

What you do at the YMCA is your own business.;) However, YMMV stands for Your Mileage May Vary. I guess it would vary at the Y as well.
