This isn't meant to sound insulting - have you gotten the remote to work with any other equipment by programming in codes? I ask because the issue could be the codes, or it could be how you're trying to program the remote.

Assuming that you're doing it correctly - if the codes that were in the remote's owners manual don't work, then the first thing that I'd do is go online (probably to Philips support webpage) and see if there are any updated codes.

We might be able to help you out better if you let us know the model name/number of the remote.

Thanks.

It's possible the remote you doesn't have the right codes in which case you're screwed unless it's an upgradeable remote or has the capacity to learn. Pick up a Logitech Harmony remote and don't look back :)

If the remote has a "code search" function (where you just keep pressing the power button until it responds) try that. If not I second the motion of rnatalli - get a Logitec Harmony. I've had an H-659 for a few years now and I wouldn't trade it for any other universal remote (even the newer fancier Harmonys) and the H-659 can be had for about $80 at Amazon. Harmony's code database is extensively deep - and the remotes are very simple to program via the internet.
