I am a first time poster, I have been reading these forums over the last month or so after being introduced to them by and friend and they have been incredibly helpful. I am graduating college this month and have been lucky enough to find a good job with a nice starting bonus and it has always been a dream of mine to have a solid home theater.
My set up will probably be 80/20 movies/music and I wasn't expecting to buy the speakers until I moved into my new place sometime in July. That was until I saw the May EMP EF30T 5.1 special at $899. To me that price seems too good to pass up, my original budget for speakers was around $1,500 but I figure the better deal I can get on the speakers the nicer TV I can buy. My first question is do you think there is anything else out there that would compare to the value I would get on the system and if so what would you recommend keeping in mind that I want a 5.1 system.?
Secondly, I haven't decided on a receiver yet but i would expect it to be between the Yamaha 663, Onkyo 606, and the Pioneer 1018 these all are between 90 and 100 watts per channel. Would they adequately drive the EF30T mains which have a recommended wattage of 150?
