I purchased 2 discs this past weekend "ORPHAN" and "Children of Men"

I have an older Sony Dolby Digital/DTS System

The Children of Men was able to play using the DTS
DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1

Also I rented the Blu Ray Book of Eli which is DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1
had no problem converting to regualr DTS

But Orphan which is Dolby TrueHD 5.1 wouldnt convert to Dolby Digital, but to 2.0 Pro logic II does anyone know if it is the disc? I tried regular DVD's and had no problem.

I have a Sony BDP-S370:confused:

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Rob

DTS Master Audio 5.1 and Dolby True HD are configured differently. The DTS system has a core lossy track within the stream. Dolby True HD and Dolby digital have to be laid down separately. So unless the disc said it had both Dolby formats, then only Dolby True HD was here. The disc must just have had Dolby True HD and two channel PCM only.

I have at least one opera BD that has only Dolby True HD and not even a PCM track. So that would only play on a player and or receiver that could decode Dolby True HD.

If your player had been set to output PCM I bet the player would have sent 5.1 lossy PCM to your receiver, but if the player was set to output bitstream then it would not.

Thanks for the info bud! I'll check in my set up menu!

I have a feeling this is what it is also because I read previously with the PS3 that it would do exactly this with a lossless track. I have the PS3 set to bitstream and when I played an uncompressed track I only got the right and left channels.

*edit - as a side note robm, is your S370 up to date on firmware? It may or may not have anything to do with this issue, but the older the player gets, the more likley you will have issues with newer discs.

Well I just bought the Blu Ray player last week..so I'm not sure, I'm not even sure how I would do that.
