Quality Rock & Roll CD's?

PENG has a good thread on quality recordings that created a list but there is very little "REAL" rock and roll on it and I would like CD only recommendations.

I'm not looking for "good music". That's very personal and subjective. I'm wanting some direction on recorded sound quality. Relatively speaking of course. I understand that most of the recommendations quality will pale in comparison to high quality jazz and classical recordings.

Rules: Rock and Roll only* and let's keep it to the CD format only.

*I like Classic, Hard, Progressive, Alternative & Metal. Others are welcome too as long as it's Rock.:)

I used this in my review of the SB13-Ultra. I was disappointed when I first got the disc because I thought it sounded anemic compared to the surround sound SACDs that I had been listening to, but the more I listened to it, the more I appreciated it.

Dire Straits - Brothers in Arms
Steely Dan - Aja
Yes - Fragile (Gold version - there are probably other good versions out, but there is at least one truly crappy version, so beware!)
Peter Gabriel - So
Joni Mitchell - The Hissing of Summer Lawns (I think the quality of all of her albums is very good except the first couple)
Sheryl Crow - Tuesday Night Music Club
Alanis Morisette - Jagged Little Pill Acoustic
Amazon.com: Jagged Little Pill Acoustic: Alanis Morissette: Music
Jagged Little Pill is a great album, but the acoustic re-do really causes Alanis to focus on her voice for a stellar album (if you like female vocals as much as I do)

and, this likely does not qualify, but the 14 year old girl in me really likes:
Katie Perry - Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection [Explicit Lyrics]
Seriously, listen to the clips of tracks 10,12,13,&17 she has a gift of nuance in her voice that makes teeny-bopper music worth listening to. I really hope she moves into more substantial music (though her level of success may undermine change). Maybe hooking up with John Mayer will help expand her horizons.

Bruce Springsteen - Tunnel of Love
I'm generally not a big fan of Bruce, but this album came out after he got heartbroke and it has an extra something (IMHO). Recording quality is top notch.

My standbys of well recorded rock are Pink Floyd's "The Wall" (big surprise, I know) and Jethro Tull's "The Very Best Of Jethro Tull", primarily because they've got far more dynamic range than the bulk of the rock CDs in my collection.

Thanks guys! Some good stuff.

Any one got any hard rock or Metal suggestions? Like I said, I know the sound quality will be relative to the genre.

I always liked the guitar riff in this. Hopefully you can suffer or FF through the first 2 minutes.
