I am setting up a pvr using my pc, I have an s video out on my video card and was going to run a s video cable 50ft to the living room tv. I read s video was poor after 15 ft and that composite video would be better, any suggestions would be appriciated

Try Svideo cables from Belden, some are very low loss.

I once tried using a 10 metre s-video/composite scart cable, and this suffered interference on NTSC S-video. The quality of the cable wasn't that bad. You'll have to pay quite a lot to get good quality screened cable that long. It would be better off trying to shorten the cable run, or try running a few phono leads together for composite video.

Timbit, I looked around and saw alot of info on Svideo Breakouts for running svideo long distances. Smarthome has a alot of info on it but discod the product. though Bluejean cables sells them

I brought my DVI cable from Bluejeans and they are great, give them a call and ask about it. They were very recptive to my questions on dvi when I was buying.

Good luck

It depends on the cable. You can run 2 pieces of RG-6 coax and use s-video to 2 cable breakout adapters to allow easy hookup to your RG-6 runs.

This is the traditional pro way to make long runs of s-video with most runs that I have seen being about 100-200 feet with zero problems.
