I'm planning to buy a LCD HDTV, size will be about from 32" to 40". However, with all the Ads & reviews, i get a little confuse on what brand to pick in terms of quality & durability.

Will somebody help me provide with a list of LCD HDTV brands in their order of quality & durability

thanks

They're all pretty durable, as most are rated to 60,000 hours of life. What is your budget? Take a peak at this site, and see what each model is going for.

I'd say the best brands rights now are Samsung, Sharp, with companies like Westinghouse and Olevia offering the best bang for the buck. I just saw the Olevia 37" LCD with HDMI and dual tuners for $1099 this past weekend at a local store. My folks have that set, and it's an unbelievable deal. My uncle just got the Sony 40" Bravia (I think he paid over $3000 for it), and the picture is very similar - I couldn't tell a difference in HD, but he may need to tweak the calibration a bit more. The SD picture was much, much better with the Olevia set, which my folks appreciate since so many of their cable channels are still broadcast in SD.

With 1080p in its infancy, we'll see more and more of these sets offered. These 1080p sets are selling at a premium right now, but will drop drastically in the next 12 months as did the current batch of LCD sets. That makes the 1080i sets a bargain, and a nice future bedroom set when the 1080p sets start coming down in price.

Budget LCD

I am considering one of the inexpensive Sceptre digital 32" LCDs which sell for about $800 at Costco and Newegg. Keep in mind that some of these budget models will not include features like a built in over-the-air HD tuner.
