Putting together a surround system - Advice/Feedback?

My cousin is finishing his basement and turning it into an entertainment room. I'm helping him select and put together a surround system for the room. I was able to put together a Kilpsch setup that suited his budget (around $2,500).

Klipsch Synergy Series:
F-2 Floorstanding Loudspeaker (pair)
C-2 Center Channel
S-2 Surround Speaker(pair)
Sub-12 Subwoofer

Reciever:
Onyko TX-SR803

This'll all be hooked up to a Sony KDS-R60XBR1. Does anyone have any advice/feedback/tips? Should I stick with the current speakers and reciever or go with something else?

I do not feel that the Klipsch Synergy series presents much of a value. The treble sounds "tinny" to my ears. I think your cousin would be much better served with a system from another retailer, such as Axiom. For $2500, you can get a great system put together (with a subwoofer from Hsu). The system will sound better, go lower, and will just be an overall better purchase. That's not to say Klipsch is bad, it's just that their quality doesn't really show until you step up to the Reference Series.

What do you think of Axioms Epic 50-175?

They look like they're the best option from Axiom for the price (the remaining $700 has to go towards the reciever). Also, what do you think of the subs that come with the Axiom sets? Are they OK or would I be better off getting my cousin a seperate sub, like the Hsu, as you recommended earlier?

Axioms subs don't really present a good value (even according to Axiom somewhat) until you hit their EP500 and EP600, which are out of your budget class. I think that Hsu is a much better value in the lower priced range. I think that if you can afford it, the Hsu VTF-3MKII is a great performer. I have their entry level STF-1 and it has exceeded my expectations for what a tiny sub can do. People that have VTF3-MKII subs feel they're great subwoofers.
