putting together a B&W surround system

Hello all,

I'd like some advice from anyone who has listened to the B&W 600 series. I have a room in my new home that is around 27 feet deep (with a kitchenette opposite the theater wall) and 21 feet wide, 9 foot ceilings. I am trying to sort out how to match up the B&Ws for the room. I was considering the 602 S3 for fronts, the LCR600 center, CM 80 for rears (in-ceiling) and the ASW 650 woofer. My only concern is it seems the woofer and center are more recommended for the 603 and above. I was thinking that with the addition of the bigger center and woofer would make up for the smaller fronts, but will this create an audible mismatch? I suppose I could go with the 603 fronts but I want to put them just on the other side of the front wall with screen in front and like the smaller size of the 602's. Anyone have an opinion? If it matters, I plan on getting the Pioneer elite VSX-54 TX or -56TXi receiver and the DV-45 DVD player.

thanks for any opinions

It just so happens I have that exact setup, minus the rears. The setup is a perfect match in my opinion. The lcr600 center is matched in every aspect with the 602's. The only changes I made were fine tuning with the av reciever. the bass response of the 602's is great for music, yet much is to be desired for home theater, hence the addition of the 675 sub. overall I am very happy with the setup. My only upgrade would be to add one more sub to create true stereo seperation. alex

I really appreciate you taking the time to fill me in -- that's good to know someone has been happy with their setup so far. I just didn't think, with the big sub, that I would really need the extra bass going with the 603s instead of the 602s -- thanks

ps - anyone else?

1. I am not a super audio freak type and would not consider myself an "expert."
2. I've got a slightly different balance in my B&W set up. Fronts are the 603s; center is the smaller 60, SW is the 600; surrounds are 602s.
3. I'm pretty happy with the system for HT. I've had some acoustic problems with my room that I haven't sorted out but that is not the fault of the speaker system.
4. I wonder if you will just use this system for HT or for 5 channel stereo listening as well? If the latter, I'd highly recommend larger surrounds. I really like the full sound field that you get with the 602s in the rear and even for HT there do seem to be lower frequencies encoded even into the surround channels for most movies.
5. I also wonder if you will get enough sound of out the 602s as fronts. I personally wouldn't make the decision to go with the smaller fronts just for sake of looks or size.
