Push Pin Connectors?

I purchased 4 Boston Acoustic Soundware speakers to position around an outdoor swimming pool. I see that the speakers have "push pin" connectors on them. I am not familiar with what those types of connectors look like. Can someone explain to me what this type of connector looks like? The speakers are on the way, being delivered by UPS in a few days....I'd like to get the speaker wire on hand so as soon as the speakers arrive I can get busy with the installation.

Also, the speakers will be in a pretty harsh environment as my home is in an ocean area (Nags Head, North Carolina). Will the push pin connectors pose problems from a contamination point of view? Is there an alternative type of connector I can use?

Page 3 shows the speaker wire connection. If you are using braided wire then you might consider tinning the wire ends with rosin core solder.

It says these speakers are weather resistant for indooor or outdoor, so you should be okay. Worst case you might have to periodically check and clean your speaker connections if you have really harse slat water corrosion.

Perfect info! Thanks a million. I have used those types of connections before but had no idea what they were called! Learn something new everyday....

The environment here is extremely harsh. The salt air eats everything up that is metallic. I am sure that these speakers will need occasional maintenance but heck, that's the price you gotta pay to live here.

I work in the electric utility industry here and it is a constant struggle to keep our equipment operating due to salt buildup. Electricity loves salt..the salt gives it a path to ground potential which leads to pole and equipment fires as well as damaging rust. I'm assuming putting speakers outdoors will be no exception.

(Ohhh...the pool is open now! Has been for several weeks, thanks mostly to a heat pump and a solar blanket! 86 degree water on a 68 degree day is perfect swimming weather!)
