PureLink Adapts Users to 2009 Digital TV Transition

All HD content from 2009 forward will only be available via the HDMI output of the source and only connect to the HDMI input on the HDTV display. PureLink is a line of digital connectivity products that solve the problem by providing digital switching and distribution within the home. PureLink's fiber optic cable solutions allow for long distance, multi-room connectivity with zero signal or data loss. PureLink’s products allow the end user to keep their current electronics for the audio while at the same time updating the connectivity of the digital video content now and in the future at a very affordable price.

Very interesting, I'm glad I got a receiver that has HDMI switching, but I'm concerned that by 2009, HDMI 1.3 or whatever ver. of HDMI is being used will have a different terminator on the cable and I won't be able to use it with my current gear. Any idea if this will be the case, or if it is will I be able to use some type of adapter?

So is there no hope for us poor folks that don't have a TV with HDMI inputs?

There is hope.... hope that you save up enough money in the next three years to buy a new tv.

PureLink = Borg?

"PureLink’s President, Minsoo Park, explained it this way. “Remember the Borg in Star Trek? ‘Resistance is futile’ was their motto. HDMI is the future of HD delivery to the consumer and everybody should get on board now."

I understand that according to the legislation on the books as of today all systems will eventually be converted to HD. However, I think the above statement by PureLink borders on a marketing scare tactic.

First off, will their existing hardware support HDMI 1.2, 1.3 and other future versions?
Second, in the next few years the HDMI standards will mature and gain a broader customer base and the cost will also decrease drastically. In a "short" 36 months your computer and most of your electronics will be obsolete so why not wait.
Third, it is also doubtful that the legislation specifies a specific connection format for HD video and that manufuctures will intentional create hardware and connection incompatabilities.

Since when is HDTV restricted to HDMI?

I understand that HDMI can support all current HD formats but what if some better communication technology comes along?

Please help me understand.

Thanks,
