Pure Direct-Denon AVR-4802R

Hi everybody
I have Denon AVR-4802R receiver. I connected my old CD player to the receiver using analog inputs. When using pure direct mode on the receiver the display “pure direct” light does not light up. What is going on? Does the CD player have to be connected using digital connections?
Please help!

Not a problem

At least on my 3805, when in pure direct mode the receiver cuts all non essential electrical circuits to remove any noise in play back. There should be no lights on the receiver front panel in pure direct mode.

Yes all lights on the display panel go off, but there is a dedicated “pure direct” light under signal display that should be on when you are in pure direct mode. On my receiver that light is off when I select pure direct
