GO-NAD!

Even though I'm 49 years old, I had never seen this movie before yesterday. I recorded it a while ago in HD (from TCM, IIRC) and finally watched it yesterday. I have to say, what a great movie! Anthony Perkins portrayal of Norman Bates was beyond reproach and Hitchcock was at the top of his game. Compared to today's "slasher" movies, I surprised to see so little blood.

One of my favorites and it still holds up today. Hitchcock knew how to make a "horror" movie. Though the effects in The Birds are dated, that one is still pretty freaky too.

Great flick. I love how, for all the hype about it and how audiences would not be able to stand it, it turns out that you don't really see much of anything. Suggestion (and those godawful shrieking musical chords) works much better than explicit blood and guts sometimes. If you enjoyed it, a couple years ago, "Hitchcock" was an enjoyable "making of" movie, with Anthony Hopkins as Hitch, Helen Mirren as his wife Alma and Scarlett Johansson playing Janet Leigh. They make a great double feature night, like Ed Wood and Plan 9 from Outer Space.
