Psb vs Svs

Iam looking for small bookshelfs.I have found the Psb alphas and matching center and the Sbs-01 with matching center.The Psb setup is about $100 more than the Sbs.Are the Psb's that much better and worth the extra money??

I had a chance to listen to the B1s - I liked them very much but I can't speak for the Sbs... Now I am curios

As an SVS owner, I can tell you you're going to get more than your money's worth with these little speakers. Though small, they fill up even a moderate sized room and reproduce great sound throughout the entire frequency range. Plus, they're built like tanks - seriously, solid with excellent internal bracing! That said, they don't dig very deep into the lower frequencies, you would still need to pair them with a good sub to get the best overall effect. Congrats!

EDIT: As for pairing with a sub, if you do this - shoot for 80Hz on the crossover point - for me that seems to have worked extremely well within the limitations of the SBS-01's, and provides for a very smooth blend between them and the sub. Since you didn't mention what you really plan to use them for I'm just tossing this out as an FYI - they're great speakers, but still bookshelves after all - if you want deep bass you're going to need a sub.

I'm curious what the frequency response is. I couldn't seem to find anything on SVS' website.

It's there, you have to scroll down far enough. They actually provide quite a wealth of information on their products - they include frequency response charts and everything. If I recall correctly, the SBS-01's listed -3db point is around 65 Hz. Just enough to provide a little punch, but no real bass. Hence you'll need the sub. Figure a crossover setting of 80Hz with a decent slope should provide a smooth transition to the sub from the speakers in those lower frequencies. Still a little overlap there, but in my experiments, not enough to cause trouble. Tried a 60Hz setting which kind of choked the sound a little too much for my liking.
