PSB Synchrony One Opinions

I am in the process of upgrading my system. There are too many choices!

Further to some research and advice obtained on this forum I am currently looking at the PSB Synchrony One.

The speakers would be used in a living room which is 5m long (a meter is about 3.3 feet) and 4m wide. The living room opens on a dining room which is 3.5m long and 3m wide. There is no separation between the rooms. Ceiling height is about 2.7m.

Can anybody comment on those speakers and offer suggestions of comparable speakers (about USD$3700 per pair for the towers, which is higher than I originally planned)? Salk Songtowers?

I have already dismissed the Axiom M80 and Paradigm Studio/Signature because of the centers (all the models I would want are too large for my cabinet and Axiom's VP150 center does not seem to be that great).

I liked the Synchrony better than the Paradigm's I compared them to. They simply have a very clear and detailed soundstage. Hands down a capable speaker.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find a pair of these to audition, but every review I've read of them has been very positive. Having owned many different PSB's in the past & present, I would likely buy these without even auditioning them. I still love my Stratus Golds and would not trade them for anything.

I have my Stratus Golds in a room similar to yours as my house is open concept. They fill the space very nicely, but they need some decent amplification to do so. I suspect the Synchrony One's would as well, so make sure you run a decent amp.

My question to you sir, when is the Platinum line going to be revamped?

I've never really heard much about the Platinum line. Maybe they are overpriced . I have not read many reviews on them and they didn't seem to make a big impact on the audio scene when they came out. The Synchrony line seemed to be more newsworthy from what I recall. The Platinums are kind of ugly too.

New Synchrony pricing is probably comparable to the Platinum line which has been out for a while. I agree, they aren't very pretty, but IMO not many PSB are from what I have seen.

My question was if you knew when the newer version would come out, if at all. I guess not. I gave the T8s a lengthy audition. They are worth listening to for the rabid PSB fan. Outside of a muddy bass issue, of which I have no idea if it was more to blame on the room, they left my own Images in the dust. Of course, that might be expected with such a drastic price difference.

No, I don't have any info on a new Platinum line. Hopefully if it is in the works, they will make them look nicer. I think the Synchrony line is quite attractive but the Platinums are pretty ugly.
