PSB Image T55 Tower?

The WAF has been beaten and she is now allowing me to get tower speakers. She was going to make me use bookshelves on the mantel and I was going to use the SVS system. That being said...I think I would like to go with the PSB Image T55; would anyone steer me in a different direction? This will be used in conjunction with the SVS PB12-Plus/2 , Image center and some cheap Sonys for surround sound(for now) My budget for mains is right around $1000. The room is ~9000 cubic feet.

as you have the Image center, I would stick with the T55's (and high pass 'em).

please tell me how you woo her. That's a major upgrade and go with the c60 for your CC. The psb's image is one of the lines I'd consider when the new house is built.

I agree. Its not a question if the PSB Image speakers are good. The question is how you got your wife to agree to using towers.

Why not really abuse it and go with the T65's. I've auditioned them before and they sound amazing for the price. I kind of wish I went with them instead of my Monitor Audio Silver setup (got a really good deal on the MA's).

I just set the old sony's on the mantel and everytime I walked by them I would say...man, those things look like they are from the 80's...I cant believe that our new system will look like that and still not be able to fill the room with sound. After awhile she was saying the same thing. Then I talked her into the Mirage towers...she liked them because they looked modern. Once she got use to the fact that towers would be ok...I said -well we can get a better speaker for the same money and although they dont look as modern, they look great and will sound better. She gave up and said...get what you want!

I think The Junction® in Watertown NY has a pair of open-box T55s (the light colored ones) for 1/2 off.

I have no experience w/ other speakers, but can say my T65's for the mains and surrounds are great. The C60 center is great, too. Very happy with them all. Good luck! Nice that your wife supports your hobby!

Back before Christmas, I was set to go to my local authorized dealer and purchase the PSB image T55s, bring them to my house and do shootout between them and my Axiom M22s. I was getting excited about the prospects, but they didn't have any product in stock, put my name on a waiting list. I'm still waiting for that phone call. Apparently, PSB has a problem keeping up with the demand for these speakers. I'd really like to know if they have distribution problems. I can just about imagine how long one would have to wait for a repair.

I know what you mean. The two dealers that are listed as PSB dealers in my area dont really have them. They said they could order them but I want to hear them; not just buy them. I am going to consider something else but I dont know what.
