Ok...now that I have talked the S.O. into the towers is the Yammy rx659 going to be able to drive the PSB T55's ok?(Impedence-Nominal 6 Ohms Minimum 4 Ohms) keep in mind that this is a large room (~8000 CFT) and I will have the SVS PB12-Plus/2 for low-end. I only want to spend ~500 for the AVR. Any other suggestions?

If you don't need the IPOD hookup or HDMI, the Yammy RX-V2500 sells in your price range (or less) and has an additional 20 wpc over the 659 that should drive your PSB's with no problem. Just set the 2500 up for 6 ohm speakers.

You're gonna like your new setup! :)

Yamaha receiver power

I have a similar Yamaha (HTR-5860) and I am driving a pair of 4 ohm Onix Refrence 1's without any problems. I recommend keeping the receiver on the 8 ohm setting so you don't limit the power to the speakers. If you have 5-7 4-6 ohm speakers, then make sure you check the temp on the receiver. If it is too hot to touch, then you need to turn down the volume or add a fan for circulation. The receiver has pre-amp outs so you could always add a Behringer A500 or other amp for the mains.

Well now I am having trouble finding these speaketrs in my area (DFW, TX). Neither of the two dealers listed on PSB website actually have them. They can both order them but then I cant listen to them first. I may have to look at different speakers.

They're a Canadian company so they might not have much stock down there.
