Has anyone heard both of these brands? Do they sound kind of the same?

Yes, I'd think most here have heard of both brands. Both are well respected, Canadian speaker companies that make solid speakers.

As for sounding the same, that's tough. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find any two speakers that sound exactly the same. Similar? Sure. But the same? Probably not.

More importantly, why do you ask? I see your signature says you already own Axiom's. Are you considering PSB's as replacements?

No! Just bought my Axioms, was just wondering if they sound alike. I have heard PSB and liked them very much. I get my Axioms in the morning some time. Another reason I ask, is that my NAD is meant to match up really well with PSB, was wondering if the Axioms will match as well.

Axiom sound

The axioms are very transparent speakers and should match up well with any electronics including your NAD.

Speakers need an amp that will drive the speaker's impedance and drive it to the desired spl level based on the speaker's sensitivity. Many amps will fit such a roll for a speaker.

So what you are saying is that most amps match well with most speakers?

That's what he is saying. In effect all well designed receivers/amps will sound the same as long as the speakers are not clipping.

i think axioms are probably more transparent and even neutral. a lot depends on the specific speakers you're talking about, but in general i don't think the two brands sound similar at all. almost opposite, in fact, with the PSBs having more midrange coloration that sounds almost "tunnel" like (B25), and the axioms having more laid back midrange (M3) or neutral mid (M2/22).
