PS3-upconvert DVD player?

I know details are sketchy, but anyone know if the PS3 is going to be a DVD player that upconverts to 720p/1080i via HDMI? I know it supposedly is going to be a Blue-Ray player and so forth, but I am most interested in gaming and DVD viewing. Thanks.

Rumors are yes - but as you said - details are really non-existent and rumors are all we have to go on. To believe Sony, upconversion will be capable of up to 1080p output.
