From my short time in this forum I realize that HTiB's are bordering on blasphemy...but my budget won't allow another route. I have a Panasonic 42" 720p plasma TV. I will be routing my PS3 (for gaming and Blue-Ray) into the reciever. I will also be connecting my dish network HDTV receiver to the AVR. A singal HDMI cable will then connect to my plasma. I am thinking of going with the Sony HT-SS2300. I understand that speaker quality will not be premium with that system. What I am concerned with is whether I will be losing audio signal quality by going this route. From what I understand, the PS3 will decode virtually all HD formats such as TrueHD and DTS and send that signal as a compressed PCM to the receiver. The Sony receiver does not decode those same, higher end HD formats. Will I be losing signal quality because of this or does it not matter since the PS3 is converting to a PCM in the first place? Also, will I be able to upgrade my speakers at a later date to a higher quality product or will my cheap AVR be a limiting factor in sound quality forever? Thanks so much for your help!
