I would like some help setting up my ps3 to get some 5.1 surround sounds.

AV 6 HDMI
Front / Side connections Audio L/R in, CVBS in, Headphone out, S-video in, USB
Other connections Monitor out L/R (Cinch), S/PDIF in (coaxial), S/PDIF out (coaxial)

I have a home theatre system which is a Philips HTS3555/37.

It has these input/outputs:

I highly doubt that the HDMI on your HTIB supports MPCM. And it looks like you don't have toslink as well and I don't know if they sell any coaxial-> toslink cables or adapters. Sorry to say this but there is no way for you to get 5.1 unless you upgrade to a new receiver.

Thanks, you guys have been really helpful.
I was wondering if the Toslink To Optical Mini Adapter is what I need.
Also I was wondering if I could use the coaxial digital out from my TV to receiver.

Toslink to optical mini is not the same thing as coaxial so that will not work. Also the coaxial out from your TV is a passthrough that works when you are getting and HDTV signal over a OTA antenna so you can get 5.1 through the receiver. Also PS3 only has toslink out so you need either a cable that has toslink on one end and coaxial on the other or a new receiver altogether with optical or hdmi which can handle MPCM.

Thanks for posting

Then i guess my only option is to use the Optical Toslink to Coaxial (RCA) Digital Audio Converter?

Semi Off topic: Anyone know if I would need to pay duty buying the Optical Toslink to Coaxial (RCA) Digital Audio Converter from the states?
