The plan is to buy a PS3 in the near future. Might go with the 80gb model purely for the 2 extra usb ports.

I plan to install on Linux on this machine and use it as a media center, semi computer, gaming machine and blur ray.
Here's the question which distro of linux? What are the pros and cons of each.

Ubuntu
OpenSuse

Is there any advantage to using Yellowdog over other distros?

Only Yellowdog will work for PS3 because no other linux distro supports Cell. Also no matter what you do video acceleration will not work with linux because there are no drivers for the RSX.

YDL has a version made specifically for the PS3. This one should work easier.

The others may work, but are better for the more advanced linux person. You may run into various issues with it. I also see that YDL has a great forum for support on the PS3.

If you really don't NEED the other two USB ports, you can always get the 40gig model and use the $100 you saved on a 320gb 2.5 sata drive for it :).
