PS3 Audio - Help with PCM

Just got a PS3. No matter what I set the PS3 audio settings to, it will only display Stereo on my Pioneer Elite 92 receiver when I am trying to watch a Blu-Ray that I know has uncompressed audio. I have an HD-DVD that will display PCM when I watch a movie. I was under the impression that the PS3 could also stream PCM. Any suggestions?

1) do you have an HDMI cable between your PS3 and receiver?
2) make sure the PS3 is set to AUTO instead of PCM? (IIRC)

1) yes, hdmi 1.3a cable between ps3 and receiver

If you have tried everything settings on the PS3 then you should check and see that the Elite's input is set up correctly. Whichever input you use for the PS3 you have to select it in the input set up menu.

To avoid any confusion make sure you have no other connections (coax, optical, or analogs) connected to the PS3 except for the HDMI cable. This way if you have sound, at least you know you are getting it via the HDMI input and not the analog or digital inputs.
