ps3 as a blue ray player

I am in the market for a 3d Blue ray player, but instead I am considering ps3 and wanted to get some opinions.

1. I want to make sure the ps3 will work with my surround sound and all.

2. My tv supports 24P Cinemac playback, does ps3 support that or would I need to get another blue ray player for this feature?

3. Updates I also heard ps3 comes with the firmware updates to watch 3d movies, but i am wondering would this be true 3d or would I be better off with a stand alone 3d blue ray player?

The ps3 will have no issues with your first and second points. I have no idea about the third.

The PS3 does not support 3D blu-ray at this point, only 3D gaming. A firmware update will come out that will enable 3D blu-ray in the next few months. I am not sure why they are holding it back, but most everything for the PS3 is done via firmware updates.

We can't tell you if it will work with your current system if we don't know what that system is...but it has HDMI and optical digital outputs so that should cover most systems out there. The analog output capabilities are limited to stereo as far as I know.

Best bet because of the frequency of updates that the ps3 has
