First post here.

Unfortunately my new speakers (Polk R8's) have spring clips. Im running 14ga and current have it terminated with some monoprice pin plugs. Is this the best way to terminate at the speaker end with spring clips?

Pins or bare wire. With spring clips, I typically just leave them bare since the only benefit of the pins is to reduce frayed ends. Since you already have them, what you have should be fine.

Pin connectors seem to be the standard because people like terminations and believe they ar esuperior to bare wires but I prefer well-twisted bare copper wire for this particular type of connection.

Why, you might ask?

If you look at the connector, you'll see a hole with a "jaw" that clamps down on what's inserted into it.

Copper is malleable and this allows it to be somewhat "compressed" by the force of the spring-loaded clips pushing down on it and therefore making a more solid contact by conforming to the shape of the "jaws" that hold it in place. Pin clips are hard and don't respond to that force.

If the gap is big enough, you can fold the bare conductors back onto the insulation, say a quarter inch, then shove the whole thing into the spring clip's gap.
