Proper Subwoofer hook up

I have an Onkyo TX-DS575 Receiver with Polk RM6750 Speakers. Polk says to run the speaker wires through the sub. Why can't I use the sub out on my receiver to the inputs on my sub?

Your sub is actually a subwoofer "module" that incorporates circuitry and crossovers within it. You must hook the satellites through the sub module to cut out the low frequency emissions to avoid damage to the satellites. The subwoofer is the brains to your entire speaker setup. You can try it both ways and see which you like best. The LFE option on the receiver is probably much more difficult to tweak as opposed to the Polk setup.
