Prologic 2z heights ???

My old avr has this feature but I keep switching between it and regular 4.1 ch and can’t tel much of a difference: do I need higher spl capable front heights to notice a better soundstage ?? These are rca and noticeably lower quality then Klipch but still sound pretty good on there own .
I could place the heights up way higher but it would look strange. And a fall risk . They don’t add enough spl to be useful like Dolby Atmos up higher , except for movies. And i don’t have Atmos just this old obsolete avr.
No space for Atmos anyways so it’s something I would not benefit from bouncing speakers are not better then what I’m using now.
Keep or drop the rca heights is the question?
I have pro media 2 ch speakers I can use but I may need to buy speaker cables .plus I’d have to find them .
Keep Heights for movies ?or drop/dodo them .
What would improve my soundstage the most ??

Well sitting on top of the tower won’t do much. They should be like three feet above the mains for plIIz. Even then, the heights only play back material that’s extrapolated from the mains. So really what you get is a taller soundstage. Seems better for music than movies but ymmv. If you can’t mount them higher, I would skip them.

go figure I think reviews said it didn’t add much .
I see that’s why I said they have so little spl gain that if ℹ properly put speakers up high it wouldn’t do much effects except for films . Maybe I should consider dropping them they don’t really add anything my front towers cannot do . I’ll test them out a while longer maybe watch some movies .
For cable tv they’re useless, but movies I’ll see . Maybe I should fire up the blu ray player . Or Netflix .
With current placements about only way to hear them I have them at +6 db . It was 10.

So far they seem to add some depth to the sound it’s like surround channel effects but I’m uncertain if it does much . Bi amping is useless or id try that . These channels really don’t add much . I’ve considered dropping them but then I’ll have 2 unused amp channels..

Well two unused channels are probably better than two poorly used ones lol.
Did you move them up to about 3’? You won’t likely notice them at all sitting on top of the mains since the only sounds they produce come from the LR main channels. It’s not like they receive special effects made for those speakers like Atmos.

if I can find something to raise them with … I’d use my jamo satlites on stands but I’m afraid they might topple over and hit my tv . Those would be perfect heights . My parents wouldn’t allow that too ugly or I’d have it set up . If it was my bedroom I could do anything..
Bi amp was useless but I was better of doing that then using heights , I really think I’m going to drop them .. or just use them for movie duty . Do avrs last longer with unused channels?or does it just allow more headroom?? My bedroom system is only 4 speakers I tried 6 and it didn’t work this system I might follow suit and do the same .

Sort out your setup first before asking more questions. We are here to assist you. So far all I've ever seen from you is excuses not to do anything.
Rearrange the furniture. Replace or remove if necessary.
Even put the setup somewhere else could be an option to consider.
Most people don't do this for some reason and then choose to neglect their setups badly without any attempt whatsoever to correct their issues. I've seen it time and time again and even on here from someone that has no passion or even respect for this hobby. And look where they are now!

it worked fine in my bedroom when I had heights close to my ceilings . It’s this room I can’t run a proper set up. Or I’d just use 4 surrounds.
My set up is fixed I can’t move anything it’s optimized best I can . The only weak link is the height speakers I don’t know if they’re just not enough processing that goes into the mix to add anything to the soundstage. It’s a dead format now Atmos has took the crown . My surrounds aren’t even behind me that’s how space constraints are . But they are at the same angle infront of me similar to how theaters set up there surrounds. Maybe I should just drop the heights or watch’s Movies see if they’re worth keeping . They’re set up improperly anyways … obviously and I know it . I can always shut them off and use them for Movies only .I can use prologic 2 movie mode 4ch or 4ch stereo .and for movies heights do help.

surrounds in my glorified 4ch set up not true surround.

I’m considering switching my surrounds to bipoles, because they seem to loud . Should I try the Klipch books as heights before dropping them to see the difference. They can prob keep up with my fronts .
Why does audysee set fronts to 40 hz?? Should I just leave them there ?? I set to 50.
Think I’m dealing with sonic overkill just gets too loud right now . I gotta re read the audysee guides.
I might experiment with 4ch surround. No center Right now .

Sounds way better set up like this I ran xt32 again everything sound matched . I can just shut off the heights by switching dsp modes if I don’t want to use them all the time but I got them on now . I just figured I’d keep them .

I would point the heights straight out compared to the mains. With them on the same axis, you might not be benefitting from the sound they produce. Heights should be higher than that ideally too, like 1-2 ft. higher.

Is the toe in of the mains fine I’m running phantom ?? As for Heights I don’t think raising them would do much for this room because it’s a open floor with two door sized wholes
And stairs . What would I raise them with ? If I do that ..
I was going to test it out and see if I’m even keeping heights just for additional sound formats or dropping them . Clearly there’s supposed to be 2-3 feet higher … o_O

The toe is fine. Raising them is exactly what you need to do. Room is fine, and they’ll work. As long as you raise them. Do the have keyhole slots? If not, go to Home Depot and spend five bucks on some keyhole mounts and screw them into the speaker. Hang them up, and test them out. It’s cheap and easy. If you don’t want to mount them up, then quit using them. Easy.
Hate to sound like wardog but damn man, be a little more proactive. Fukk!!!

And move the surrounds to the side. Take the energy you’re NOT applying to a job, and at least set your shitt up right. Don’t tell me your mom said…

They put this big couch in this room I can’t set surrounds in proper position without putting a shelf up behind the couch and my ocd mom won’t let me do that. Infact I have a perfect shelf that would work I paid for it’s sitting in the garage unused ..
if I want proper surround I’ll go up in my bedroom and watch that . The sub walks all over my Klipsch set ups jamo sub. Both sound good though imo but a 10” vs a 15” is a no-brainer .
as for the heights I’ll prob either raise them or just get rid of them Altogether. I could watch a Blu-ray see if they are activated more . Real shame I can’t fit proper surround I’d rather have 4 then these heights..
