Projected image is different for DVD vs HD Cable vs Cable

Hi,

//setup
I'm a newbie to the theater stuff, however I just setup a Optoma H31 projector with a dvd player and a hd digital cable box....

I have the hd cable box and dvd player connected via component cables into my yamaha stereo and a component cable coming from the stereo to the projector....

//issue
So okay I'm a perfectionist. I can adjust the projector when showing a dvd to project a perfect image on my 105" screen, however when I change to hd cable the image is shifted....the image is also shifted differently on regular cable....

So I have bleed over onto the black portion of the frame typically depending on what I am watching....Whereas if it were a TV the picture would always be "framed" in the screen....

Is this a common issue? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a setiing I need to set?? Or different cables??

Or is this something I just need to deal with? I mean if we used it only for DVD, then I could set the project to be perfect for that....Or else if we just watched HD cable...etc...

Ideally all formats (hd cable, cable and dvd) would be projected onto the same location of the screen to avoid this issue...

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you,

-S

You need to calibrate the projector with each video input and placed in memory. Then you will know that each input is properly calibrated. Calibrating the DVD input is not enough.

Well there is only one input, its the component input...both the calbe and the dvd is going to the projector through that input switched by my stereo....

Is that the problem?

No, not at all. Sorry, I must have missed that part in your post.

Are the pictures that are not properly framed in the proper format such as wide screen or pan and scan? What black section bleed over are you implying?
