Problems with Pioneer Elite Pro-110FD

I have one of these amazing Kuro plasma TV's in 50 inch. Last week while watching it powered off by itself. When I finally got it to come back on, I now have a 3 x 12 inch black bar in the upper portion of the screen. Pioneer outsourced service techs showed up yesterday and poked around trying to find the problem, finally determined that the panel might need replacement and said they had to take it to the shop..... If panel needs replacement it will be more than 1 week before I see my Plasma again.....
I was wondering if anyone else out there has had this problem or seen this problem.... i got the impression this is common with these products.

From my understanding, that is anything but common with the Elite sets. Panasonic and Pioneer have very strong reliability numbers in the plasma industry.

Things do happen from time to time in electronics, it just happens that you were one of the unlucky few there. No sweat though, Pioneer should get you covered.

Plus, if it's an Elite, Pioneer pretty much promises a week turnaround. remarkable for a TV...most other brands outsource their service to "autorized dealers" and you're lucky to have it back in MONTHS nevermind a week.

Elite service, in Canada anyway, is done AT Pioneer, BY Pioneer...quickly!!
