Unfortunately my equipment had to be packed away for about 7 years due to mother moving into our house and taking over my media room. We have reconfigured the house and i am at least gaining a music room. I still have some old equipment which includes a Denon 2910 DVD player and Sony STR5000 receiver. Here is my problem. I am trying to play some SACD's and DVD-audios...yes I have a few..but sound will not come out of center or rear speakers or subwoofer. I tried multichannel direct, coaxial, and even optical. Nothing works. I know that use to work! Everything appears to be hooked up correctly. Any ideas? I don't even know where to start.

Do you have 6 analog audio feeds from the SACD player going to the receiver? SACD cannot be passed any other way.

Digital coax or optical (same thing for purpose of this discussion) are not capable (and I mean SPD/IF protocol) transferring original SACD encoded audio signal which varies drastically from CD or even from 24bit/192 studio level recordings. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Audio_CD#Technology

In some cases HDMI cable is able to pass the signal, but it requires HDMI DSD capable SADC and AVR, which 10 years old equipment is aint for sure.
