Hey everyone,
I am new to home theatre projectors, I have been researching for a while and finally decided on the Panasonic PT-AE900U. I got it today and I am trying to set it up ... but things are not going the way i planned. So far, the only things I can hook up to it at the moment are my DVD player and PS2. I have purchased High performance 3 RCA to RCA composite component video cables for the DVD player for connecting to the projector. Now here is my problem. I have everything connected correctly ( 99.9% sure of this) but nothing is working. I can switch between composite 1 video, composite 2 video, S-Video, Video... and nothing is working. Al video options are still the blue background screen. I have followed the instructions in the manual and nothing seems to be working, the DVD player is powered on. and still it has no signal... Is there anything i can do? I am getting concerned. If someone can help, please reply. THANK YOU!

Jason...
Component video is made up of 3 wires - they are all 75ohm cables and typically have RCA ends on them. The RCA ends are typically colored red, green, and blue.

Connect all three RCA ends to your projector, and all three of the other ends to your DVD player directly.

Turn on your projector and press the COMPONENT VIDEO button. This is the third button up from the bottom of the remote, in the center that says "CMPNT"

Now, you should see an image on screen.

If NOT - please respond to us with the make a model of your DVD player. There is a chance you have an upconverting DVD player that is set to HDMI output 'ON' which typically disables the component video output.

So - remember these terms:
Component video is three 75ohm cables with (typically) RCA ends.
S-Video is actually two 75ohm cables with (typically) a round s-video end
Composite video is one 75ohm cable with (typically) RCA ends.

Hey, Thanks for responding

Well, I have the cables connected directly and followed those exact instructions from the PJ instruction manual.. and still nothing but the Blue screen (same thing with my PS2 when i tried that). My DVD player is called Magnasonic Slim Line DVD player Model DVD824.

Double check the connections and that you have the correct colors plugged in correctly to the Panasonic and the DVD player. Also, when you press the component button on the remote, make sure that you press it enough times to go to the correct component video input on your projector. Since (I believe) there are 2 component connections, if you just press the button once, it may go to component 2 input, when you need it on component 1.

There is nothing I see on the DVD player, looking at the manual, that indicates that there should be any issue. Also, make sure the component video cables you are using are solidly pushed all the way into the player and the projector all the way.

If you still have issues, please try to take a photo of the two connections you have in place and post them... if you can. This is definitely a bit weird.
