I have had my Technics receiver/amp (SA-GX670) for about 6 years. I've broke it down 3 or 4 times and re-setup again with know problem. This time though something has changed. I cannot figure out why I continue getting an overload readout on the front display... I've check and re-check my wires to the speaker system for chances of cross polarity. everything checks out.. My speakers are KLH with four satellite speakers hooked to a subwoofer. I get my volume to about 1/3rd open and I continue to get an overload reading. Any suggestions or Ideas will be appreciated.

Thanks

You have a problem with your fan motor your fan motor need oil,you can use contactspray, and spray it in the motor just a litle bit.the backside have two holes spray it in there.

Receiver problem

Discounnect the speakers and power up the receiver. If it still goes into shutdouwn then you have a short or other problem internal to the receiver. Might be a good time for an upgrade.

Indeed,

The fan only turns on when your surpass a certain level, so it isn't likely that is the problem. It is possible that your cables may appear to be fine, but could still be damaged because of oxidation.

jcPanny has the right idea, disconnect all speakers and all interconnects and see if it still goes into protect mode.
